Celebrating injections! Or Not?

Happy National Neurotoxin Day!

Unless you somehow have avoided all TV commercials, print ads, reality TV, and social media for the past 20 years, you have heard of the infamous injectable neurotoxin.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Botox is the most popular minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure with an estimated 4.4 million injections performed last year.

A study by Zocdoc found that procedures increased in mid-November and early-December ahead of the holiday season with a 79% higher than average spike in injections on November 20 and a 75% higher than average spike in injections on December 4.

Allergan, the pharmaceutical maker of B-tox, launched the marketing campaign, National B-tox Day, as recently as 2019. As such, the third Wednesday in November has become the biggest injection day of the year.

Admittedly, the goal of National B-tox Day is targeted advertising, special promotions, and increased awareness of the product.

So, why would a plant-based, vegan, non-invasive skincare brand be celebrating National B-tox Day?

Frownies’ mission is to empower women to honor, embrace, and celebrate who they are - however that looks for YOU!

History of B-tox

Actually, the history of B-tox is quite fascinating. The drug first received FDA approval in 1989 and was primarily used to treat eye disorders such as drooping eyelids.

B-tox Cosmetics did not receive FDA approval as a wrinkle treatment until 2002!

History of Frownies Facial Patches

Frownies is the home of the Original Wrinkle Patch. Long before B-tox was created, Frownies Facial Patches have been smoothing forehead wrinkles and helping woman age gracefully.

Frownies was invented in 1889 by Margaret Krosen after noticing her daughter Alice, a concert pianist, had developed unsightly frown lines. Frownies Facial Patches have been around 100 years longer than Botox!

Frownies Facial Patches are made with weighted, unbleached kraft paper and a water-activated, plant-based adhesive.

Frownies Facial Patches can be applied to the forehead, crow’s feet, and corners of the mouth to create a cast to release muscle tension, retrain facial expressions, and allow overlying skin to lay flat to minimize the appearance of wrinkles.

Frownies Facial Patches, once called “Hollywood’s Best Kept Secret,” has now gone viral as the natural alternative to Botox®

Frownies is proud to be a fifth-generation woman owned and operated small business.

Smoothing Wrinkles by Relaxing Facial Muscles

You may be surprised to learn that Botox and Frownies Facial Patches actually work in similar ways.

Through the use of a targeted neurotoxin, B-tox Cosmetic paralyzes the muscles underneath the skin of the face and allows the overlying skin to relax, smoothing the appearance of wrinkles.

Similarly, Frownies Facial Patches create a cast to prevent the facial muscles from moving; therefore, allowing the skin to smooth out over a relaxed muscle. Over time, Frownies help retrain the facial muscles to relax, release tension, and lay flat. Smooth muscles result in smooth skin.

B-tox & Frownies Facial Patches

But B-tox vs. Frownies doesn’t have to be an either-or choice!

Did you know you can use Frownies in conjunction with B-tox injections? Using Frownies Facial Patches is a cost-effective way to extend the results of your B-tox and save you money by getting fewer injections per year!

In some cases, B-tox is unable to smooth certain wrinkles due to their specific cause.

Dr. Jennifer Owens, MSc in Aesthetic Medicine, reports that some wrinkles may be caused by external forces, such as creasing your skin while sleeping on your face. In this case, paralyzing the facial muscles with a toxin will not help eliminate the wrinkle, and the client would be better served by using Frownies Facial Patches in their sleep.

Dr. Owens does caution users to wait for at least 48 to 72 hours prior to applying the Frownies facial patches to avoid moving the neurotoxin into unintended muscles of the face.

Who Shouldn’t Get Injections?

There are a variety of reasons that someone may not be eligible for B-tox Cosmetic as a wrinkle-smoothing option. Some contraindications  include if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, other health comorbidities such as autoimmune diseases, neuromuscular diseases, and cardiopulmonary diseases.

In other cases, some women opt against and prefer a less invasive treatment option to reduce their overall toxic load.

While you can’t get this while pregnant or breastfeeding, Frownies Facial Patches are totally safe! There are no active ingredients in the wrinkle patches themselves as they work by creating a physical external cast. So nothing is being absorbed into the skin!

Even better, the whole Frownies skincare line is all-natural and safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding!
