Spring is just around the corner! You are excited to pull out your shorts and bathing suits to head to a sunny, warm vacation spot. And then you see it in the mirror… cellulite.

But before you opt for long pants on the beach, let’s look at the TRUTH about cellulite:

1. Almost Every Woman Has It

You may be surprised to find out, but you’re not the only one with cellulite. In fact, according to the Journal of Cosmetic Science (May-June 2011), 80 - 90 percent of women have cellulite. And while cellulite is more commonly seen in women, men can get cellulite too.

In addition, women of all shapes and sizes have cellulite. The appearance of cellulite does not seem to depend on body fat percentages; although, it may be linked to hormonal changes such as pregnancy and menopause, drastic weight fluctuations as seen in yo-yo dieting, and genetics.

2. Science Isn’t Really Sure What Causes It

Cellulite is a variation in the appearance of the normal layer of subcutaneous fat that we all have beneath the surface of our skin. For reasons currently unknown by science, connective tissue bands form from the skin through underlying fat layers creating pockets of fat. Since the skin is tethered by the connective tissue, it no longer lays flat over the fat layer, creating a dimpled or puckered appearance. But no one is really sure why the connective tissue bands form in the first place.

3. You Can Get It Anywhere On Your Body

Most commonly, cellulite is seen on the buttocks, thighs, and abdomen, but you may see cellulite on your breasts or arms as well.

4. There Are No Cures For It

There are an endless number of treatment options for cellulite, ranging from invasive surgical procedures to topical creams. Unfortunately, the research doesn’t support these options as cures for cellulite.

5. A Healthy Lifestyle May Improve It

The best way to reduce the appearance of cellulite is to live an overall healthy lifestyle. hydration is key when dealing with cellulite, so hydrate from the inside and out. Drink plenty of water and moisturize your skin.

In addition, maintaining a healthy weight, along with proper nutrition and exercise, may help minimize the appearance of cellulite.

6. You Don’t Need to Worry About It!

Luckily, cellulite is not harmful to your health, so no need to stress about it.

Remember, cellulite is normal! So, wear your shorts and bathing suits this spring! You are beautiful!

If you are in need of an ultra-hydrating body moisturizer to minimize the appearance of cellulite, try our Frownies Cellulite Cream.

Ingredient Highlights:

Plankton Extract - Plankton extract is a unique skincare ingredient. Due to it’s similar chemical makeup, it is easily absorbed into the skin and provides an almost immediate smoothing to the skin’s surface through its hydrating effects. Plankton is also high in essential vitamins and minerals which aids in the production of collagen and elastin which improve the skin’s overall tone and texture.

Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane (MSM) - Known as “Nature’s Beauty Mineral,” MSM is a natural source of organic sulfur. Due to its high sulfur content, MSM is a potent detoxifier and can assist in removing toxic buildup from the subcutaneous fat and improve the appearance of cellulite. Most importantly, MSM increases the permeability of the skin to allow for nutrients and moisture to be more easily absorbed.

Caffeine - As seen in many eye creams, caffeine can dilate the blood vessels in the surface of the skin to increase surface level circulation and reduce water retention to temporarily tighten and smooth skin.

Safflower Seed Oil - Safflower seed oil is known to be an extremely effective emollient. It soothes, softens, and moisturizes to improve the skin’s tone and texture. It is an ideal skincare ingredient with a comedogenic rating of zero, meaning it does not clog pores.

Blend of Essential Oils - Frownies Cellulite Cream is packed with therapeutic grade essential oils. For example, ginger essential oil is known to improve skin texture, due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Essential oils such as grapefruit and geranium are thought to assist in stimulating the lymphatic and circulatory systems to remove toxins and increase blood flow to the affected areas.

Frownies Cellulite Cream boasts plant-based ingredients to plump and firm skin and lock-in moisture. In fact, we recommend Frownies Cellulite Cream for any area where you need serious hydration — including your knees, elbows, and especially your feet!
